Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Specialist to join our team at St. Mark's Hospital. As a key member of our endoscopy department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a clinical resource for physicians and other hospital staff regarding instrument choices and function based on manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
  • Participate in all procedures of varying complexity, including ERCP, Spyglass, EUS, bronchoscopy, and esophageal manometry.
  • Recognize physical landmarks and demonstrate advanced skill in instrument manipulation, tissue acquisition, placement of devices, and proficiently set up all related equipment.
  • Assist with and carry out functions required to safely perform endoscopy procedures, taking into consideration age-appropriate care.
  • Recognize the development of intra-procedural complications and proactively participate in emergency interventions.
  • Assume primary responsibility for eliminating out-of-date equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect scopes and other reusable equipment per protocol.
  • Facilitate patient flow by transporting patients in the department and throughout the hospital, assisting RNs in coordinating the schedule of rooms for the day.
  • Participate in planning the next day's schedule, assessing the adequacy of resources, identifying the need to arrange additional staff or the opportunity to flex staff off.
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and high-risk procedures and processes and lead other staff in quality improvement projects using FOCUS-PDCA principles.
Requirements
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of technologist course or comparable experience preferred.
  • One year of hospital-based experience preferred.
