Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Energy Field Inspector to join our team. As an Energy Field Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting energy surveys and inspections of existing heating distribution systems, domestic water, and condensate return systems in NYCHA developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy surveys and inspections of existing heating distribution systems, domestic water, and condensate return systems in NYCHA developments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting existing heating distribution systems, domestic water, and condensate return systems.
  • Perform safety tests, chemical tests, and check burners for optimum operation.
  • Check motors for normal operation and summarize all findings in reports.
  • Support other NYCHA departments, including skilled trades and contractors, after installation of new equipment.

Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus five years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of large tenanted buildings, three years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees.

Higher education may be substituted for up to two years of this experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for each year of experience.

However, all candidates must have at least three years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees.
