About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Propulsion Systems Engineer to join our team at Relativity Space. As a key member of our Stage Fluids and Components team, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of fluid systems that ensure reliable and efficient operation of our Terran R vehicles.

Your primary focus will be on conducting trade studies to produce architectures and designs that satisfy system requirements, sizing at the system and component level, and performing detailed fluid and thermal analyses. You will also create tools to enhance our team's analysis capabilities and streamline workflow.

In addition, you will participate in design and manufacturing reviews, own and lead test campaigns to validate system design and performance, and anchor models with data from test and launch.

To be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to lead their own projects into completion. A high degree of drive and autonomy is required, as well as flexibility to changes in strategic direction and a willingness to push your understanding and intuition to ensure we as a company are producing the best possible product.

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field, and at least 5 years of experience working with fluids systems. You should have strong experience applying engineering fundamentals in system design, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer, as well as experience with one or more fluid or thermal modeling tools for internal compressible and incompressible analysis.

Experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++ is also required, as well as the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to solve real, complex hardware problems.
