Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary: 3-year, full-time benefitted position (possibility for extension)
Timeframe: 48 Weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (some nights and weekends required)
Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Supervision Received: The Behavioral Health Coordinator is supervised by the Counseling Center Director.
Supervision Exercised: The Behavioral Health Coordinator may temporarily supervise the Counseling Center Administrative Assistant in the absence of more senior administrative departmental staff and may also supervise graduate and/or undergraduate interns.
Salary: $60,000.00 Annually

Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Coordinator is a full-time eleven-month, grant-funded position that involves a combination of providing direct clinical service to students and educational outreach to the campus community. This position works collaboratively with the Outreach Counselor to promote safety and wellness, including suicide prevention and substance use prevention.

  • Provide individual psychological evaluation, short-term psychotherapy, appropriate referral, and case management.
  • Participate in the staff rotation for assigned triage and after-hours crisis intervention services.
  • Provide consultation to University personnel, students, and students' families as appropriate.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines of the appropriate professional association (e.g., NASW, ACA, or APA) and maintain professional standards for providers of psychological services.
  • Remain current with therapeutic theory, intervention, and practice.
  • Coordinate Training of Trainers in suicide prevention and maintain certification as a trainer in suicide prevention.
  • Coordinate suicide prevention training for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Work collaboratively with Residential Life, Student Health, Athletics, Student Government, appropriate student affinity groups (e.g., LGBTQ+, veterans), and other campus constituencies to deliver and enhance prevention services on campus.
  • Coordinate and implement a successful CORE Alcohol and Drug Survey and uses CORE Survey results to coordinate, develop, and implement appropriate substance prevention programs.
  • Identify gaps and implement evidence-based programming related to suicide prevention, substance use, and mental health.
  • Assist in coordinating campus-wide mental health activities to help ensure timeliness, content area gaps, and prevent excessive overlap of similar programs.
  • Travel to and attend grant-related meetings/conferences as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The successful candidate must have a Master's or doctorate degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, and be licensed or license eligible as a mental health professional in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Clinical and theoretical knowledge of psychotherapy, ability to assess psychopathology, and provide competent crisis intervention are essential. College counseling experience is preferred.
