Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northern Arizona Healthcare Corporation. As a Lead Respiratory Therapist, you will play a key role in the planning and execution of daily operational, financial, and clinical support to patients, staff, and management within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) punctures according to established policies and procedures.
    • Administer pharmacological solutions and monitor patient responses as prescribed by medical professionals.
    • Record patient vital signs, including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment.
    • Verify patient orders before administering any treatment or respiratory care.
    • Set ventilator parameters according to established patient protocols and medical orders.
    • Assist in the placement of endotracheal tubes, minimizing facial, oral, and tracheal trauma.
  • Administrative
    • Complete billing paperwork and ensure accurate documentation.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary patient care services, promoting a collaborative approach to group decision making.
    • Provide leadership assistance to achieve optimal clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes.
    • Assist in the development of the department budget and ensure budgetary goals are met.
    • Direct the work flow for staff, participating in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives.
  • Mentorship
    • Provide guidance and support to staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
    • Assist in the development of clinical competencies for staff members.
  • Equipment Care
    • Assemble, disassemble, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
    • Educate patients on therapy and prescribed medications/therapy before discharge.
  • Compliance/Safety
    • Report safety-related incidents in a timely manner and participate in safety training programs.
    • Perform work in a safe manner, monitoring the work environment for potential safety issues.
    • Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety.
    • Stay current with state and federal regulations and company policies impacting the employee's area of responsibility.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related healthcare field (required) or completion within 2 years from date of hire.
    • Master's Degree (preferred).
  • Certification & Licensures
    • Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners (required).
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (required).
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required).
    • One specialty NRBC credential (preferred).
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of acute care experience (required) with a Bachelor's Degree or
    • Minimum 5 years of acute care experience (required) without a Bachelor's Degree.
