Medical Care Specialist

Job Summary/Objective:
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide high-quality healthcare services to patients under the direction of a physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient examinations, take medical histories, and record results to make preliminary diagnoses or decide on follow-up procedures.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Administer and order diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interpret test results to inform patient care decisions.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, including immunizations, injections, suturing, and wound care, and manage infections to promote patient health.
- Exercise professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
- Develop and implement patient care plans, instruct and counsel patients, and record progress to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Prescribe medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
- Provide general health education to patients on topics such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) assists physicians with emergency treatments and complex procedures, detailing medical issues and patient histories for consultation.
- Implement physician directives and maintain accurate records of patient care services.
- Monitor patients through office visits, pre- or post-surgery visits, or interactions with other medical specialists to ensure comprehensive care.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and colleagues in stressful medical treatment settings, counseling patients and their families on treatments and patient management plans.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations, protecting patients and employees from infection and harm.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program
- Two years of experience in a clinical setting
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- State accreditation based on certifying exam
- Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years
- ENT Experience is strongly Preferred
