Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II to join our team at the City of Clovis, NM. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimal performance.
  • Collect and conduct tests on wastewater and sludge to monitor water quality and identify potential issues.
  • Inspect and maintain laboratory facility machinery and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on treatment facility machinery and equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and record gauges, observe flow rates, and maintain daily logs of operations to track system performance and identify potential issues.
  • Lead daily activities of employees in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater collection system and treatment facility.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of collection and treatment processes maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in the attainment of department goals and objectives related to Master, Strategic, and Comprehensive Plans.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater plants and facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license equivalent to a New Mexico Class "B" Commercial driver's license, including the appropriate endorsements (or able to obtain within six (6) months).
  • New Mexico Level II Wastewater Operator Certificate.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular attendance and occasional work beyond normal business hours. The position is subject to drug testing and regular driver's license monitoring in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
