Nights and Weekends Registered Nurse Job Description

At Chapters Health System, we're committed to providing exceptional patient care and customer service in our communities. As a Nights and Weekends Registered Nurse, you'll play a vital role in delivering timely and compassionate care to patients with emergent, critical needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide visits to patients in a timely manner, arranging for, teaching, and supervising nursing care in home care and facility settings.
  • Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Group to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Make nursing assessments and use critical thinking skills to provide evidence-based care.
  • Supervise LPNs, CNAs, and Continuous Care RNs/LPNs.
Requirements:
  • At least one year of staff nurse experience in a comparable setting/unit.
  • Hospice and/or palliative care experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure from the governing body for practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia, based on the state/jurisdiction of practice.
  • Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) certification is required to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage projects within defined timeframe and budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to delegate and follow up.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stressful situations with a positive attitude.
Work Environment:

Works in a business office with computers, printers, copy/fax machines, and telephones. The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate. Occasionally required to drive to alternate work locations.

This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as on-going compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
