Theatre Instructor

Hartnell College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach stagecraft and technical theatre courses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching theatre workshop courses, which cover design, painting, set and prop construction, stage management, lighting, sound techniques, and career opportunities. The course includes lectures, reading, projects, and practical experience.

• Teach theatre workshop courses, including design, painting, set and prop construction, stage management, lighting, sound techniques, and career opportunities.
• Develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students.
• Assess student learning and provide feedback.
• Participate in departmental and college-wide activities, such as faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.

• Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in theatrical, film, or video production, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience in the same field.
• Experience working with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and other historically underrepresented and underserved populations leading to student success and excellence in higher education.
• Understanding of systemic barriers faced by BIPOC and other historically underrepresented and underserved populations and experience with implementing strategies to close equity gaps for students.
• Commitment to empowering students in their development of self-efficacy and a sense of belonging, with the goal of helping students thrive and reach their fullest potential.
• Commitment to fostering cultural humility within the classroom by incorporating the cultural strengths of BIPOC students in teaching pedagogy.
• Experience using an equity-minded framework through service activities on campus and/or in the local community.

$69.85-$83.03 per hour for instructional assignments

$59.60-$70.58 per hour for non-instructional assignments (lab/library/counseling)
