The primary role of the IT Security Specialist involves collaboration within Special Access Programs (SAPs) to support various Department of Defense (DoD) entities. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish intricate operational software configuration controls and system interfaces for assigned computer systems.
  • Maintain file servers, firewalls, network access, security monitoring systems, and relevant system documentation.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system anomalies to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Prepare systems for operational use and assist in operational testing.
  • Review, prepare, and update authorization packages.
  • Notify stakeholders of changes that may impact authorization accreditation.
  • Conduct cybersecurity assessments as part of self-inspection checklists.
  • Provide technical and cybersecurity coordination on all Bodies of Evidence comprising the authorization package.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Ensure that information systems and network appliances are operated, maintained, and disposed of in compliance with security policies.
  • Administer Video-Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, including scheduling and configuration.
  • Provide client support for external information systems.
  • Manage account creations, modifications, and deletions across multiple authorization boundaries.
  • Perform help desk and troubleshooting activities.
  • Conduct hardware/software system configurations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Execute system and network appliance patching activities.
  • Support government-issued laptop operations.
  • Assist in media control and accountability activities.
  • Manage COMSEC account and equipment activities.

Required Experience:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior roles as a System/Network Administrator or Information Technology/Assurance Specialist; experience with SAPs is essential.
  • Training: DoD M IAM Level II (in lieu of IAT Level II).

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).

Certifications:

  • Must fulfill position and certification requirements as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level II or Information Assurance Manager II within 6 months of hire.

Security Clearance:

  • Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph examination.
