OUR MISSION

The Sanitation Districts are dedicated to safeguarding public health and the environment through innovative and efficient management of wastewater and solid waste, transforming waste into valuable resources such as recycled water, energy, and reclaimed materials.

We are currently seeking to fill a Division Engineer position within the Engineering Department, specifically in the Structural, Architectural, and Geotechnical Design Section. As a non-civil service public agency, we employ over 1,700 individuals, including more than 200 engineers, and are recognized nationally for our pioneering engineering practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a team of professional engineers and support staff, coordinating with other groups to establish project priorities and timelines.
  • Ensure the successful completion of projects with a focus on technical adequacy, efficiency, safety, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Structural, Architectural, and Geotechnical section involved in design, planning, operations, and research.
  • Review and recommend personnel actions, including selections and evaluations.
  • Act as a liaison with upper management and other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess:

  • A valid Certificate of Registration as a Structural Engineer issued by the State of California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • One year of experience in the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County at or above the level of Supervising Engineer I, or three years of relevant supervisory experience.
  • A valid California Class C driver license.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Applicants should have a strong understanding of:

  • Principles of supervision and personnel management policies.
  • Modern engineering practices and methodologies.

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Manage the work of engineering and non-engineering personnel effectively.
  • Develop and implement solutions for complex engineering challenges.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.

SELECTION PROCESS:
