Job Title: Senior Estimator - Commercial Construction

Alta 1st Construction Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project plans, requirements, drawings, and specifications to prepare cost estimates.
  • Visit job sites to gather information on access, services, and site conditions.
  • Compile and analyze data on factors influencing costs.
  • Communicate with clients and analyze their requirements.
  • Prepare estimates and associated information for bid in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current documentation and data according to company standards.
  • Participate in presentations for project delivery and business development purposes.
  • Generate RFIs to clarify bid documents.
  • Determine scope of work in contract documents and select subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, including soliciting and pre-qualifying partners.
  • Coordinate blueprint distribution and obtain bids from subcontractors.
  • Qualify subcontract proposals and analyze potential risk.
  • Post-project award responsibilities include interviewing and selecting winning subcontractors, buying out the job, and preparing information for the pre-construction meeting.
  • Review forecast reports and provide input to the Project Manager.
  • Contribute to positive customer, subcontractor, and vendor relationships through fair and open dealing.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of successful track record in commercial and/or retail estimating for a general contractor.
  • Cooperative and able to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Travel required to attend pre-job meetings, visit potential job sites, and meet with owners and project team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Primebid, and Timberline.
  • Ability to interpret all levels of drawings, narratives, outlines, and specifications.
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
Physical Requirements:

This position requires visiting job sites, and the individual must be able to physically navigate a job site that is pre-construction and/or under construction.
