Position Summary:

We are looking for a motivated individual to train in the operation of a narrow flexo label press with capabilities of up to 10 colors. The Press Operator will ensure compliance with safety, production, sustainability, and quality standards while collaborating with various departments to meet the company's core objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines set by the plant and corporate standards.
  • Report any safety concerns to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace by completing daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Prepare the press according to the Job Ticket and Product Specification documents, ensuring the correct use of print cylinders, inks, substrates, tooling, and anilox rollers.
  • Conduct all necessary quality checks in line with product specifications, including visual and functional assessments.
  • Operate the press to produce products that meet customer specifications while maintaining quality, minimizing waste, and optimizing press efficiency.
  • Ensure consistent quality throughout the production run, performing critical checks on copy, color, registration, and ink adhesion.
  • Complete all required procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined in the BRC standard.
  • Efficiently complete press make-readies.
  • Perform all necessary equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Clean plates, cylinders, ink pans, and lubricate the press as required.
  • Accurately input all necessary information into the ERP system regarding material usage and time.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, Trade School, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 2+ years of experience as a printing press operator on narrow webs or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communications relevant to job duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify root causes and determine corrective actions.
  • Proficient knowledge of production materials, quality methods, and color standards is necessary.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of prepress/preflight processes are preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
