Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled 2nd Press Operator to join our team at Flower City Group Inc. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for optimizing the profitability of our operations by performing to the highest level of efficiency in maintaining constant quality, making readies, and managing equipment and press crews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Familiarity with densitometers and their functions, including density, dot gain, print contrast, and hue.
  • Pull and hang plates, ensuring accurate registration.
  • Cut and maintain coating blankets.
  • Verify grain direction and sheet alignment.
  • Check for proper coating and pagination, ensuring accurate bleed requirements and sheet positioning.
  • Set up and run feeders or assist Feeder Tenders as needed.
  • Monitor both sides of the sheet for defects, including scratches, picks, water spots, oil spots, draws, cracks, smashes, and missed side guides.
  • Complete and sign off on press checklists and review fanned-out sheets.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of machine press operation experience.
  • Basic math skills and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment and operate computer-based technology.
  • First Press Operator Certification, High School Diploma or equivalent, and AAS in a related technical field are preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and use feet to operate machines.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever-changing deadlines and priorities.
