Position Overview:
Southern Dominion Health System, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead our nursing and clinical support teams. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in personnel management and nursing leadership within a primary care environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to nursing and clinical support personnel, ensuring effective organization and resource allocation for healthcare service delivery.
  • Oversee staffing and scheduling for nursing and clinical support teams, stepping in to provide direct patient care during staffing shortages.
  • Facilitate comprehensive training and orientation for new nursing and clinical support staff, along with ongoing professional development and in-service training.
  • Advise the executive leadership on staffing decisions, including hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations, while supporting recruitment initiatives.
  • Ensure effective communication between clinical staff and management through regular departmental meetings and participation in leadership discussions.
  • Recommend necessary medical equipment and supplies to the CEO, managing procurement for the clinical department.
  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration to maintain efficient workflows and enhance service delivery.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external program representatives and vendors, overseeing the Medication Assistance Program.
  • Contribute to the executive team’s compliance and reporting objectives, including grant applications, quality measure tracking, and policy revisions.
  • Engage in the ongoing development and utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, providing feedback and recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Current RN license from the Virginia State Board of Nursing; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with prior supervisory experience required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support is necessary.
  • Possess personal and professional attributes that foster trust and respect among health center staff.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and guide nursing personnel.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures essential for fulfilling the mission of Southern Dominion Health System, Inc.
