Automotive Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Dick Hannah Dealerships. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various automotive issues, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair automotive issues in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins
  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Requirements:
  • Previous automotive repair experience required
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and time management skills
  • Physical ability to use computer hardware/software
  • Research skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Must maintain clean driving record and be insurable with company insurance
