Salary: $1000 SIGN ON BONUS FOR EXTERNAL APPLICANTS, estimated annual salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 based on experience and location.

 

Job Description:

As an Optum employee, you will provide support to the Allina Health account. This role requires a highly motivated individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring seamless patient experiences from registration to treatment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome patients in person, providing a positive first impression of our facility.
  • Collect demographic and insurance information, accurately entering it into electronic medical records.
  • Check in and interview patients to complete the registration process, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Direct patients to their appointment or procedure, ensuring timely and efficient movement through the system.
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Document any issues and resolutions in electronic medical records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Resolve claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts and in assigned work queues, exercising analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Use resources, tools, and procedures to complete registration for complex accounts, requiring strong technical expertise.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers, interpreting results to ensure accurate billing and payment.
  • Obtain cost information and explain it to patients as needed, demonstrating empathy and excellent communication skills.
  • Collect on patient financial obligations, working closely with patients to establish payment plans when necessary.
  • Handle complex questions and concerns from patients, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Screen and approve patients for financial assistance programs, providing guidance on available options and supporting them throughout the application process.
  • Provide technical or functional direction for employees, mentoring and coaching them to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist patients in completing request for information forms and submit them to the appropriate department, streamlining processes and improving patient satisfaction.
  • Offer customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls, responding to queries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with leaders to ensure effective team operations, coordinating workflow and tasks among employees to maximize productivity.
  • Identify trends and patterns in daily site activities, bringing insights to leadership to inform strategic decisions.
  • Exhibit behaviors and expectations consistent with leadership roles, serving as a positive influence and role model for colleagues.
  • Complete Quality Audits as assigned, adhering to department guidelines and standards.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of employees, providing feedback to leadership and contributing to the growth and development of the team.
  • Will participate in on-call rotation as defined by site, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to meeting business needs.
  • Assist and support team members in all roles, promoting a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of revenue cycle experience in a healthcare/hospital setting, with a strong understanding of healthcare operations and best practices.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience, with a proven ability to handle complex situations and respond to diverse customer needs.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm, with occasional extended hours as required by business needs.
  • Ability to work on-call during weekends, on a rotational basis, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to meeting business needs.
  • Must be 18 years or older, with a valid driver's license (if applicable).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic Experience, with knowledge of electronic medical records systems and the ability to navigate complex software applications.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, with a strong understanding of data management and entry procedures.

 

Physical Demands:

This role requires consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, and other physical demands associated with a healthcare environment. Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently.
