Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Grants and Pledges department at the University of Chicago Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of grants, donations, and pledges received by the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and track all incoming grants, donations, and pledges in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of donor information, grant terms, and restrictions associated with contributions.
  • Reconcile grant and pledge receivables with general ledger on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with development teams, program managers, and other departments to facilitate effective grant management and reporting.
  • Support audit activities, including preparation of the annual audit work papers, grant and pledge roll-forwards, and support preparation of audited financial statements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Pledge and Grant accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles related to grants and pledges.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting tools, and use of Excel and other analytical tools.
