Role Overview
The LPN Scheduler plays a crucial role in coordinating patient appointments for various procedures, adhering to departmental guidelines and the nurse practice acts. This position utilizes the nursing process to ensure effective patient care through assessment, planning, and evaluation.
Qualifications
Education: Required - Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience: Required - None.
Licensure: Required - Current LPN license in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also required.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Competence in utilizing computer systems and software applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to various stakeholders.
- Understanding of community resources and ability to assess age-specific data.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to travel between facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage patients and their families in the scheduling process to ensure personalized care and positive outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and office staff, utilizing appropriate reference materials.
- Delegate nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel within their scope of practice.
- Demonstrate competence in administering medications and therapies safely and effectively.
- Exhibit sound judgment in scheduling decisions and communication with team members.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans related to scheduled procedures.
- Train staff and optimize resource utilization while accommodating unit variability.
- Maintain compliance with annual regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and tailor communication to individual needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment Considerations:
This role may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. The incumbent will work in a patient care environment and may face risks associated with communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
