Position Overview
As an LPN Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare delivery process. Under general supervision, you will coordinate patient appointments for necessary procedures, adhering to departmental guidelines and the nurse practice acts. Your expertise will be essential in utilizing the nursing process for patient care, including assessments, planning, and evaluations.
Qualifications
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited training program.
- Experience: No prior experience required.
- Licensure: Current LPN license in the state of practice is mandatory.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in computer systems, software applications, and web-based tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly to various stakeholders.
- Understanding of age-specific community resources and ability to assess age-related data.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, and travel between facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with patients and their families during the scheduling process to ensure personalized care and optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and office staff, utilizing appropriate reference materials.
- Delegate nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel within their scope of practice.
- Demonstrate competence in the safe administration of medications and therapies, referencing necessary materials.
- Exercise sound judgment in scheduling decisions and communication with team members.
- Contribute to the development and execution of individualized care plans related to scheduled procedures.
- Train staff effectively and manage resources to accommodate unit demands.
- Maintain compliance with annual regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Work Environment
This position may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. The role is situated in a patient care environment, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and standards.
