Job Title: Retail Store Associate

Job Summary:
The Retail Store Associate will provide exceptional customer service to donors and customers in the daily operations of the store, striving to meet preset sales goals. The ideal candidate will properly prepare donated items for retail sale, prioritize customer satisfaction, and maintain a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales:
  • Ensure the store is well-stocked, displayed, and clean at all times.
  • Provide prompt and accurate checkout services while operating a cash register.
  • Verify bank deposits and cash drawers at the end of each business day.
  • Communicate with Accounting and Retail teams regarding any discrepancies or issues.
  • Process bank deposits and maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to retail dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures according to retail policy.

Donations:
  • Greet donors warmly and offer assistance, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Offer every donor a receipt and maintain accurate records.
  • Decline donations when necessary, adhering to Goodwill's acceptance criteria.
  • Sort and process donations efficiently, following established procedures.
  • Wear personal protective gear as required.

Processing:
  • Meet production goals for grading, sorting, hanging, pricing, and tagging donated items.
  • Transfer saleable items to the sales floor, maintaining a well-stocked environment.
  • Prepare products for shipping according to standard operating procedures.
  • Wear personal protective gear as required.

All Areas:
  • Communicate effectively with staff, providing clear directives and leadership.
  • Exhibit a high level of customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all customers.
  • Be punctual and ready to work at the designated time.
  • Communicate shipping and transportation concerns to store management.
  • Be willing to work at other stores as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to Goodwill's policies and procedures.
  • Regularly attend work, adhering to Goodwill's attendance policy.
