Job Overview

Position: Discovery & Collection Specialist/Collector


Key Responsibilities:


• Gather, analyze, and compile publicly accessible information (PAI) following established organizational guidelines, including current data storage policies and security protocols.


• Generate and distribute Open Source reports and alerts as per standard operating procedures.


• Document activities in the designated performance management system.


• Assist in timely responses to intelligence requirements, including:

  • Monitoring specific regions or targets
  • Providing language support
  • Geolocation tasks
  • Data discovery and transfer
  • Address coding activities


• Aid in the creation of analytical, observational, and technical reports and publications.


• Evaluate the credibility of open source media using various detection tools.


• Ensure proper file management in line with departmental standards.


• Manage access to security domain systems and Open Source databases.


• Contribute to the knowledge management of Open Source Tradecraft.


• Present findings and insights to leadership and stakeholders.


• Maintain an active presence in collaborative environments to engage with team members and partners.


• Conduct persona maintenance activities in compliance with operational guidelines.


• Support senior management in outreach and promotional initiatives.


Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:


• 1-3 years of experience in Open Source collection or analysis.


• Proficiency in web browsing tools and advanced search techniques.


• Familiarity with creating presentations and spreadsheets.


• Basic understanding of safe search practices.


• Proven experience collaborating with intelligence community partners.


Preferred:


• Proficiency in foreign languages (reading, writing, listening).


• Knowledge of geospatial technologies.


• Familiarity with intelligence databases and services.


• Understanding of social media platforms.


• Experience with performance management tools.


• Awareness of defense and intelligence missions.


• Experience in geolocating visual media.


• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
