As a Per Diem Staff Nurse, you will provide exceptional patient care to critically ill children and their families, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of care.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Deliver high-quality patient care by incorporating the principles of Relationship Centered Care and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care, prioritizing all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care.
- Education and Support: Educate patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease, communicating effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Quality and Safety: Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement, demonstrating clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.
- Operations and Professional Development: Perform charge nurse duties as assigned, coordinate with the Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Nursing Shift Manager to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care, and contribute to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and their families and members of the healthcare team.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing program.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice assigned.
- Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State.
- Name: Basic Life Saver (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA.
- 2 years of PCICU experience required.
- Certification: PALS (in ED; PACU; IR; Peds ICU, and APNs Pediatric Oncology depts.).
