The role involves close collaboration with various governance and control functions, including Internal Audit, Third Party Risk Management, and Information Security, alongside Business Lines and Technology, to ensure that operational risks are effectively identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated through robust business continuity measures and disaster recovery exercises.
- Drive the continuous enhancement, management, and execution of the Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery framework to bolster operational resilience.
- Lead initiatives to identify emerging BCM risks and trends, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership on process improvements, testing requirements, and program efficiencies. Collaborate effectively across business lines with key stakeholders to formulate strategies and adapt to evolving circumstances.
- Ensure alignment of BCM strategy with the overarching Operational Risk Management strategy, integrating with Enterprise Risk Management and Eastern Bank's strategic objectives.
- Assess and monitor vendors' business continuity capabilities to guarantee compliance with the organization's standards.
- Conduct comprehensive business impact analyses across various business units and processes to address and document the most significant business continuity risks in plans, ensuring they are adequately tested.
- Work in partnership with first lines to facilitate business continuity and disaster recovery testing, including simulated scenarios to evaluate plans, identify weaknesses, and ensure readiness for effective responses.
- Engage with stakeholders to prioritize essential processes, vendors, and resources for continuity planning and incident management.
- Implement training and awareness initiatives to equip employees for effective responses to business disruptions and incidents.
- Chair BCM Committee meetings with stakeholders, providing insights into BCM Risk.
- Assist with Internal Audits and regulatory examinations.
- Lead enterprise storm preparation calls and manage BCM notifications as necessary.
This role demands a high degree of independence and sound judgment. It involves significant collaboration with various departments, necessitating strong organizational skills. A meticulous attention to detail is essential, as responsibilities are visible to senior management, the board of directors, and regulatory bodies. Key components of the role include problem-solving, strategic risk planning and analysis, and risk escalation.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in Operational Risk.
- Background in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
- Self-driven with the ability to work and learn autonomously.
- Accountable for engaging with business units and other risk areas to ensure timely and accurate assessments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply risk management principles in a business context is preferred.
- Professional demeanor with the capacity to provide frequent written and verbal communications and make decisions based on thorough analysis.
- Familiarity with banking operations and risk management frameworks is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Archer or other Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools is preferred.
- Certifications in Risk, Audit, Information Security, or Business Continuity (e.g., CIA, CRCM, CISA, BCCP/BCCS/BCCE, CBCP, CBCI) are beneficial.
