Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Harm Reduction Specialist to join our team at Adams County CO. As a Harm Reduction Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing public health care and treatment services to individuals in need. Your primary responsibility will be to provide direct harm reduction counseling, HIV/HCV/STI screening, and point-of-care testing. You will also be responsible for linking participants to care services, including interim and extended health care, behavioral health care, recovery resources, and social services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct direct harm reduction counseling and provide HIV/HCV/STI screening and point-of-care testing.
  • Link participants to care services, including interim and extended health care, behavioral health care, recovery resources, and social services.
  • Provide overdose prevention education and Naloxone training and distribution.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • Maintain program-specific documentation and use organizational skills to maintain correct forms and tools necessary for documentation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 1 year lived experience including substance use treatment, poverty, and homelessness and/or behavioral health required.
  • 1 year of relevant professional experience working as a peer or health navigator, advocate, peer support services, community health educator/navigator, community health worker, case management, crisis services/management, customer service required.
  • Training in trauma-informed care/support, boundaries/ethics training, recovery, strengths-based care/support, case management services, crisis services/management, Naloxone preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Peer Specialist Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
