Excavation Foreman Job Description

Black & McDonald is seeking a highly skilled Excavation Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of Operators, Pipelayers, Laborers, and other crew members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce all company health, safety, and environment policies and procedures
  • Work closely with crews daily to ensure smooth project execution
  • Supervise and prioritize work for multiple crews of employees
  • Fulfill all assigned construction job duties, including project layout, timelines, and necessary paperwork
  • Interpret and follow plans, material lists, and guidelines
  • Oversee timesheets and related project paperwork from subordinate staff
  • Directly responsible for productivity of crews and employees
  • Build and train team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge
  • Conduct toolbox meetings to review overall operations
  • Complete work according to safety, schedule, specifications, and budget

Education and Skill Requirements:
  • 3-4 years of construction experience with knowledge of excavation machines and competency to operate
  • Knowledge of building materials and systems
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Leadership skills and proven planning and scheduling abilities
