We are seeking a visionary Director to lead the BioDiscovery Institute (BDI) as part of our strategy to expand the research mission of the University of North Texas. The BDI is one of four UNT institutes of research excellence, focusing on interdisciplinary research in plant biochemistry, synthetic biology, microbiology, chemistry, computational sciences, materials science, and biomedical engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the BDI as a director, promoting a broadly shared sense of collegiality, mutual respect, and support among university departments and colleges.
- Develop and implement a clear vision for the institute, enhancing the UNT research enterprise through leadership and collaboration.
- Recruit and mentor faculty and researchers, fostering excellence in scientific training and mentorship of students and postdoctoral researchers.
- Secure external funding to support a productive and active research program, promoting interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Doctoral degree in a fundamental area within the natural sciences or engineering.
- Full Professor status.
- Proven record of obtaining external funding and leading research programs.
- Exceptional scholarship and publication record in higher-tier journals.
