Job Summary

The Senior Director of Development will serve as a key member of the Dean's senior leadership team, reporting jointly to the Assistant Vice President of University Advancement and Women's Leadership Philanthropy and the Dean of the College. This role will be responsible for building a successful annual and major gift program, expanding the donor base, and developing a strong alumni community within the College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, to further the mission of the College and TWU.
  • Collaborate with deans, faculty, and other development and alumni engagement staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
  • Develop strategic priorities and philanthropic strategies to support the College.
  • Oversee continuous research, development, and understanding of all prospects, working collaboratively with University Advancement colleagues and staff to ensure a donor-centric approach to identification, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Provide leadership and strategy to the comprehensive campaign committee.
  • Coordinate and manage all alumni/donor activities and events for the College.
  • Maintain timely contact reports, prospect plans, and solicitations within the data tracking system.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the College and University Advancement.
  • Review, propose, and develop key relationships with faculty and administrators within the College.
  • Prepare written development materials, including case statements, proposals, and fundraising initiative/campaign-related materials for assigned college, school, and/or program(s).
  • Assist in establishing and adhering to annual operating budgets and ensure that development programs are operating in a fiscally prudent and productive way.
  • Keep abreast of current best practices in the development profession and evaluate new and emerging ideas for potential implementation at TWU.
  • Manage annual formal appraisal/evaluation process for assigned development staff.
  • Promote collaboration amongst the team as a pathway to achieving fundraising goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of fundraising or related experience in higher education. Combined experience in business development, government relations, enrollment management or sales will be considered. Previous experience working in a comprehensive campaign preferred.
