Role SummaryThis position acts as the key liaison for public safety communications during emergency situations, offering training and support for external partners and specialized groups within the operational area. The role is primarily field-based, with personnel located in proximity to their assigned regions.
Key responsibilities throughout the fire season and year-round include monitoring wildfire activities and providing updates to the Intelligence Center; deploying to wildfire incidents when PacifiCorp's infrastructure is at risk; delivering internal wildfire training; and facilitating external training for First Responders. The role includes rotational on-call duties for significant incidents across the service area, ensuring support for all regions during emergencies. Additionally, it involves supplying incident data and threat assessments to the Wildfire Intelligence Center, incorporating insights for continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on all fire and storm incidents that may impact PacifiCorp's electric and non-electric infrastructure.
- Act as a representative for PacifiCorp during fire-related emergencies.
- Coordinate responses by providing critical information to manage the power system and ensure safe access for personnel and equipment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fire and emergency management agencies across the service area.
- Deliver timely incident updates to leadership and relevant departments, including Operations, Transmission, and Emergency Management.
- Enhance safety for first responders by providing training on electrical safety.
- Support Emergency Preparedness initiatives by leading or assisting with various projects and programs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional firefighter.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to set objectives and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Skills to assist in the development and implementation of systems and processes.
- Availability for emergency response 24/7.
- Proficient in using personal computers for data management and presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and experience in wildland firefighting.
- Certification as a qualified electrical worker or prior utility experience.
- 10 years of experience in emergency management for a public agency or utility.
- Familiarity with the National Incident Management System and relevant certifications.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS mapping.
- Understanding of the company's strategic objectives and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
