Job Summary:

As a CT Technologist at Henry Ford Health System, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Radiologic Technologist to join our team in the Computerized Tomography (CT) department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform computed tomography procedures, collaborating with patients' clinical history to ensure accurate documentation and availability of information for radiologists.
• Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
• Operate computed tomographic equipment and accessories, performing daily tube warm-ups and calibrations.
• Select appropriate programs for desired protocols and position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patients' abilities and comfort.
• Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations and apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
• Assume responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures and assist radiologists/physicians during interventional CT procedures, using aseptic surgical techniques.
• Understand methods and be capable of performing venipuncture using aseptic techniques and prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media in agreement with institutional policies.
• Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and have knowledge of retrospective reformations, post-processing reformations, and FMPR's, providing hardcopy films when necessary.
• Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate and initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
• Provide patient education and assist in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality and institutional policies.
• Assume responsibility for assigned areas and report equipment malfunctions, providing practical instruction for students and possibly controlling inventory and purchasing supplies for assigned areas.
• Maintain knowledge of and observe universal precautions, understand and apply patient relation skills, and perform routine cleaning of all CT equipment.
• Pursue appropriate continuing education and positively identify patients using 2-patient identifiers.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with 6 weeks of training in CT scanning.
• 1 or more year of experience in general radiology, including 6 to 12 months of experience working with CT scanners.
• Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Technician Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 18 months of hire date or job transfer date, with CT registration within 16 months following transfer to CT position (12 weeks onsite training, then pass CT registry within 1 year) required.
