Position Overview:

The Property Risk Underwriter at Dahl Consulting will play a crucial role in evaluating, underwriting, and pricing submissions from brokers for both new and renewal accounts. This position is vital in ensuring that submissions are comprehensive and effectively marketed to insurance carriers to secure competitive quotes, negotiate terms, define coverage options, and establish commission structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite a diverse portfolio of new and renewal business in alignment with established underwriting standards.
  • Review policies and endorsements to identify any errors, omissions, or inconsistencies, ensuring they align with the application, quote, proposal, and/or binder.
  • Examine inspection reports to make informed decisions on accepting or rejecting new business opportunities.
  • Issue policies and endorsements, bind coverage, and manage the coordination of binders and evidence of coverage.
  • Maintain and oversee coverage bordereaux to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of policy documents along with all necessary related materials.
  • Organize and maintain files for submissions, as well as records of written or lost business.
  • Manage client suspense and perform follow-ups as necessary to ensure timely communication.
  • Adhere to agency management system data standards and ensure data integrity by entering and maintaining complete and accurate information.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a related field; familiarity with the insurance sector is preferred.
  • A valid insurance license, with ongoing compliance for renewal requirements.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Strong customer service abilities, including effective communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management capabilities.
  • Outstanding planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
