Mental Health Nursing Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician to join our team at NPCRS. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals in need of mental health care.
About the Role:
- As a Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician, you will administer medical and psychiatric care to facility residents while assisting in medication administration and monitoring for potential side effects.
- You will apply practical nursing techniques and standard practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities- Assist in coordinating and scheduling medical treatment for all facility residents, including admission processes and healthcare referrals.
- Collaborate with Program Director, Administrator, and Psychiatrist to ensure resident healthcare needs are met.
- Implement activities related to ordering, monitoring, and handling medications, including Physician's Orders and vital signs.
- Administer medication and monitor patients for potential side effects.
- Exercise judgment and skills to recognize basic symptoms indicative of patient adverse reactions and consult with supervisor or alert medical staff as needed.
- Follow Physician's Orders while monitoring patients and reporting to Psychiatrist as needed.
- Assist in interpreting and applying Physician's Orders.
- Administer or assist staff in administering triage.
- Maintain and manage medical and psychiatric records in an organized and timely fashion to meet standards of care, accreditation, resident care needs, and licensing requirements.
- Complete documentation, including incident reports and progress notes.
- Support staff in addressing resident healthcare concerns.
- Provide supervision to Mental Health Workers.
- Participate in required in-service education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A valid California Vocational Nursing and/or Psychiatric Technician license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
- Minimum one year of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting.
- A clear criminal record review and fingerprint background check.
- A health screening, including a tuberculosis test, performed by or under the supervision of a physician showing that the LVN/LPT is physically, mentally, and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks.

The ideal candidate will hold an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse), LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), BLS Certification, and a Driver's License.
