Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY:

This role is dedicated to the routine operations and upkeep of wind turbines. The position necessitates considerable travel across the United States. A strong commitment to safety and a focus on executing tasks correctly the first time are essential.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and regulations
  • Engage in work around wind turbines
  • Ascend multiple wind towers daily
  • Interact professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Prioritize safety in all activities
  • Install, inspect, maintain, operate, and repair wind turbines
  • Identify and resolve issues that may lead to turbine shutdowns or operational failures
  • Climb towers for inspection, troubleshooting, or repairs
  • Conduct routine maintenance on wind turbines
  • Test electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
  • Troubleshoot any mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical issues
  • Service underground transmission systems and wind field substations
  • Replace defective or worn components
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of an active Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or ability to obtain one
  • Technical degree or certification in wind energy or a related field preferred
  • At least two years of experience in wind turbine maintenance or one year with a relevant degree or certification
  • Familiarity with basic industrial safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Experience with basic power and hydraulic tools
  • Valid Driver's License (CDL preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with internet navigation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Capability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters
  • Able to work in physically demanding and adverse weather conditions
  • Maintain necessary certifications for the role, including First Aid/CPR, Tower Climb and Rescue, LOTO, and Arc Flash
  • Comfortable working independently in a turbine environment with limited supervision
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others, adhering to the company's Zero Injury principles
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and manuals
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to inquiries from management and clients
  • Perform basic mathematical operations with various units of measure
  • Follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions accurately
  • Resolve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Proficient in using hydraulic tension and torque tools
  • Knowledge of rotor entry and exit procedures, including locking out the rotor
  • Familiarity with internal chain hoist operations
