Position Overview:
The Metallurgical and Materials Engineer plays a vital role in conducting a wide array of tasks and projects associated with metallurgical and materials research and development. This position also involves routine evaluations and investigations, providing technical support to relevant parties and departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize extensive knowledge and experience in metallurgical and materials activities, focusing on testing and R&D projects.
  • Research and propose new and enhanced materials (metallic, non-metallic, and composites), particularly for wear, wear-corrosion, and other critical applications related to slurry pumps and components.
  • Establish experimental designs and scopes for R&D projects.
  • Conduct materials characterization using various techniques, including optical and electron microscopy.
  • Work with a diverse range of materials essential for KSB products, including high alloyed cast irons, steels, composites, elastomers, ceramics, and coatings.
  • Design and execute materials testing and evaluation, such as corrosion, wear, mechanical testing, and thermal analysis.
  • Perform materials evaluation and failure analysis to determine properties, root causes of failures, and quality improvements.
  • Provide technical support in materials-related tasks to various departments.
  • Prepare internal reports and professional papers based on research findings.
  • Collaborate with other departments on projects involving materials selection, capital projects, and customer support.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering is preferred. Candidates with different educational backgrounds but substantial work and research experience will also be considered. A minimum of one year of experience in metallurgical and materials research, testing, applications, and failure analysis is required. Experience with wear-resistant materials, such as high alloyed cast irons and elastomers, is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:
This position primarily involves desk-type duties.
