Dietitian Assistant

Suffolk County Department of Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Dietetic Technician, Registered to join our team in the WIC Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing nutrition services to our clients.

The Dietetic Technician, Registered will be responsible for providing nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants, conducting nutrition assessments, and developing individualized nutrition plans. You will also be responsible for issuing WIC food packages and special formulas, as well as providing breastfeeding education and support to prenatal and breastfeeding mothers.

• Provide nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants
• Conduct nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition plans
• Issue WIC food packages and special formulas
• Provide breastfeeding education and support to prenatal and breastfeeding mothers
• Attend on-going NYS and SCDHS WIC nutrition and health education, breastfeeding and Farmer Market Nutrition trainings and webinars
• Provide in-service WIC and nutrition related trainings to other WIC employees
• Complete required WIC Program and NYWIC related webinars and training modules
• Perform related work as needed and assigned

• Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by New York State with an Associate's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition and credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Registration as a Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR)
