Job Overview:
Creates an engaging, secure, and developmentally suitable educational atmosphere where children can enhance their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical abilities.
Responsible for the daily organization, oversight, and management of the classroom and its students. Typically, may lead and provide functional supervision to an Assistant Teacher or aide. Ensures that all concerns from parents, children, and classroom staff are addressed appropriately.Key Responsibilities:
Meets the physical, social, and emotional needs of children on a daily basis.
Implements all policies and procedures to maintain the health and safety of the children.
Designs activities and opportunities that promote curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving tailored to the developmental stages and learning preferences of children through well-defined interest areas.
Maintains the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom in accordance with established cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
Participates in staff meetings, Academy events, and parent gatherings as required.
Prepares and executes classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules.
Develops, plans, and prepares instructional materials and aids for classroom activities.
Assists children during meal times and ensures cleanup is completed.
Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment is in good working order and is utilized and maintained correctly.
Directs the activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure smooth operation.
Engages with parents and maintains open lines of communication to foster family involvement.
Maintains the Family Information Board and other classroom bulletin boards.
Schedules and conducts parent-teacher conferences throughout the academic year.
Ensures compliance with all licensing regulations as mandated by state requirements.
Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40 pounds to waist height consistently throughout the workday.
Accepts temporary assignments in the event that regularly scheduled personnel are unavailable.
Assists in planning and executing Academy-wide events.
Meets with prospective families and communicates effectively with potential new clients.
Assists in evaluating classroom personnel.
Schedules field trips and guest speakers for monthly programs as directed by management.
Prepares the classroom section of the monthly newsletter.
Performs other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a childcare setting.
Must fulfill all state and local licensing requirements for the position (NC Early Childhood Credentials - NCECC or its equivalent).
Candidate must successfully pass all state medical requirements and undergo a clear background check to qualify for employment.
Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds consistently throughout the workday to at least waist height.
