Private Music Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Music Educator to join our team at The Salvation Army music school in Orange County. As a Private Music Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching music theory, listening skills, and practical musicianship to students of all ages.

• Lesson Planning and Preparation: Plan and prepare engaging lessons based on students' needs, aims, and abilities.
• Teaching and Instruction: Teach music theory, listening skills, and practical musicianship to students of all ages.
• Student Progress and Development: Prepare students for practice, recitals, and performances, and motivate them to progress in a positive environment.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with parents, music school leads, and other staff members to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience.
• Recitals and Concerts: Plan and arrange recitals and concerts for students' families and friends.

The ideal candidate will be able to sit for long periods of time with breaks, and walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. They will also be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate a computer and lift up to 25 lbs is also required.

• Education: AA or BA degree in Music preferred, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience: Three years of teaching experience preferred.
• Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge of music performance and teaching, and communicate instrumental and vocal techniques to students in a positive learning environment.
• Language: Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish a plus.
