UNC Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team in Carrboro, North Carolina.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly skilled Medical Technologist to perform a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of our clinical activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory science and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities- Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
- Participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
- Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
- Perform routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
- Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
- Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
- Review test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
- Eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
- Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
- No prior experience required.
