We are seeking a highly skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Assist with deliveries, including vaginal and cesarean sections, and provide postpartum care to new mothers and their babies.
- Monitor fetal and maternal well-being, including assessing amniotic fluid status, vaginal bleeding, and recognizing and managing abnormalities.
- Insert fetal scalp electrodes and provide fetal monitoring, as well as assist with resuscitation as needed.
- Maintain a sterile environment for cesarean sections and ensure the availability of emergency equipment, including anesthesia and crash carts.
- Provide education to patients and families on infant security measures, including the use of infant security devices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and provide care based on that plan.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide care in emergency situations and follow established emergency procedures and protocols.
- Delegate patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and scope of practice.
- Document all nursing care provided to patients, including evaluations of patients' response to medications, treatments, and procedures.
- Access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for the provision of patient care.
- Current California RN license
- Current BLS certification (AHA certified)
- Current NRP certification
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire
- AWHONN Progressive Fetal Monitoring classes recommended every 2 years
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience within the last 3 years of Full-Time high-risk Labor & Delivery experience
- OB triage and circulating vaginal & C-section deliveries experience
