About the Role

As a Loss Prevention Specialist at Kohl's, you will play a critical role in enhancing company profitability by executing programs aimed at deterring external theft and conducting internal investigations to drive shortage reduction. You will foster a culture of awareness among associates regarding external theft and internal investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create strategic partnerships with store management, law enforcement, and local community groups to prevent external theft.
  • Monitor customer and associate activities in the store, taking prompt action to prevent theft and recover merchandise in accordance with Company Guidelines.
  • Conduct surveillance of external theft using CCTV surveillance equipment, ensuring accurate and timely detection.
  • Assist in internal theft investigations, adhering to Company Guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Accurately document and maintain all external and internal theft investigation case records, meeting Kohl's standards.
  • Represent Kohl's in legal proceedings as needed, demonstrating professionalism and expertise.
  • Identify and communicate shortage control opportunities to Supervisors and Store Management.
  • Monitor and maintain the store's alarm system and Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) system.
  • Support Loss Prevention awareness initiatives within the store.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills

Essential:

  • Ability to work independently with initiative and make quick decisions in the company's best interest.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on providing excellent service.
  • Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold sensitive information.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience or education in Loss Prevention, security, or law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques, with the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Proficiency in Google applications and other computer programs, with a willingness to learn and adapt.

Essential Functions

The following requirements are essential to performing this role successfully:

  • Ability to perform the accountabilities listed in the 'Key Responsibilities' section.
  • Ability to comply with dress code requirements and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and basic computer operation.
  • Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance, meeting scheduling requirements as set by the company.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete company training programs and adhere to company policies.
  • Ability to operate and communicate on multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Perform work in accordance with the Physical Requirements section.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, reach, lift, grasp, push, and pull on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift (at least 8 hours).
  • Ability to visually verify information and locate and inspect merchandise.
  • Ability to comply with health and safety standards.
