Supply Chain Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes and/or aids in the scheduling of production to fulfill customer orders within agreed timelines utilizing a computerized management system.
- Leads a team of approximately 10 direct reports and around 30 indirect reports.
- Plans the necessary requirements for materials, machine capacities, and labor hours to align with the production schedule.
- Creates production timelines based on customer demands and current inventory levels.
- Reconciles physical inventories with manufacturing and distribution stock to minimize discrepancies.
- Accountable for maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Provides strategic direction for local procurement activities.
- Monitors and ensures all customer requirements and performance metrics are achieved.
- Reviews routing and Bill of Materials (BOM) for each component/product and inventory planning data.
- Oversees all facets of Customer Service, Shipping, and Receiving operations.
- Maintains an accurate database of required customer documentation.
- Ensures the precision of on-time deliveries, shipping quantities, and proper tagging/labeling.
- Facilitates accurate and timely electronic communications through Advanced Shipping Notices (ASN), Delivery Documentation Lists (DDL), and Bar Coding.
- Participates in and supports the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives and quality standards.
- Generates daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding inventory, supplier performance, delivery metrics, etc.
- Regularly attends Production and Engineering meetings.
- Provides training and onboarding for new team members.
- Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues promptly, seeking guidance when necessary.
- Keeps a record of all premium freight charges and reports on these monthly.
- Conducts Layered Process Audits as required.
Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of substantial experience in Production/Inventory Control within welding, machining, or metal stamping sectors in the automotive industry.
- Experience collaborating with German OEMs, particularly BMW and/or Volkswagen, as well as Asian OEMs is preferred.
- Experience managing teams of 30-50 personnel, both salaried and hourly.
- Proficient in MS Excel, including VLOOKUPS, Macros, and Pivot Tables.
- Must possess experience with SAP systems.
- Willingness and capability to act as a hands-on manager.
- Experience in a large-scale facility of approximately 120,000 square feet.
- Strong understanding of MRP and ERP material management systems.
- Familiarity with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Experience in evaluating costs related to materials and manufacturing processes.
- Utilizes strong interpersonal skills to lead, coach, motivate, negotiate, and foster relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Capable of managing conflict when necessary.
- Current titles such as Master Scheduler or Scheduling Manager are also considered.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university.
