Job Title: Field Service Technician - Wellhead

Downing is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician - Wellhead to join our team. As a Field Service Technician - Wellhead, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing surface wellhead equipment, including API 6A Gate Valves, chokes, casing, and tubing heads and spools, conventional and multi-bowl wellheads in both the field and shop environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and test equipment in accordance with operating procedures
  • Install and test equipment, inspecting condition and communicating information with customers
  • Making repairs to customer property and rental assets, including valves, wellheads, spools, chokes, actuators, and other surface wellhead equipment as required
  • Assemble and break down new or used equipment
  • Provide feedback to the Company through reporting of problems and failures to appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Prepare service order, tickets, and customer-related documentation accurately and completely
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction by providing timely and knowledgeable service
Executing General Shop Maintenance:
  • Storage and equipment clean-up
  • Tear down and troubleshooting of customer-owned property for inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing based on customer communications
  • Assembling, testing, and painting of new or used wellhead/tree sections
Required and Preferred Abilities:
  • Knowledge of conventional wellhead equipment and valve installation, operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Use of service tools, gate valves, and actuators
  • Conventional completions
  • Troubleshoot field equipment and products
  • Sound reasoning and problem-solving
  • Operate PBMO and Full Hydraulic Lubricators (a plus)
  • Electronic Submergible Systems
  • Multi-Bowl Systems (with LDS)
  • Wellhead Latch Systems
  • Minimum of two years' relevant experience
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
  • Additionally, employee must be able to operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools up to 30 lbs.
  • Clearly hear voices or alarms, bells, and other noises
  • Be able to work in outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, wet, and be exposed to dust, fumes, and other airborne particles, and loud noises
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or two years of related experience and/or training
