Archaeological Principal Investigator

Metric Environmental is seeking a highly skilled Archaeological Principal Investigator to join our team. As a key member of our Cultural Resources group, you will be responsible for conducting archaeological investigations, including literature reviews, work plan design, field implementation, artifact processing, and report writing. Your expertise will be essential in guiding clients through the Section 106 process and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations. We are looking for a professional with a Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in cultural resources management. If you have a strong background in prehistoric and historic artifact identification, technical report writing, and GIS exhibit creation, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct archaeological investigations, including literature reviews, work plan design, field implementation, artifact processing, and report writing.
- Guide clients through the Section 106 process and ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations.
- Develop and implement research designs, coordinate projects and fieldwork with other principal investigators, and schedule projects and adhere to project budgets.
- Organize field crews, monitor field and lab procedures, and modify research designs and procedures as needed.
- Produce high-quality project reports and ensure timely submission to state and federal agencies.
- Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cultural resources management.
- Strong background in prehistoric and historic artifact identification, technical report writing, and GIS exhibit creation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and supervise small to large teams of workers.
- Ability to work independently, with little supervision, and guide the growth and development of an independent office.
