Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated In House Substitute Teacher to support classroom instruction and provide coverage for absent teachers. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for education and a commitment to delivering high-quality instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver internalized lessons and maintain a positive classroom culture when serving as a substitute teacher
  • Assist lead teachers with instruction, classroom culture, and administrative duties
  • Build trusting relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues
  • Implement school-wide student culture policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
  • Conduct purposeful observations of excellent lead teachers
  • Participate in regular meetings with teachers and leaders, grade level meetings, and network-wide professional development
  • Take on additional responsibilities throughout the school as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
  • Completed 60 college credit hours or more in lieu of a conferred degree (required)
  • Experience working with PreK-12th grade students (preferred)
  • A belief that all students have the right to a high-quality education
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission and to advancing its antiracist ambition
  • Successful track record of collaboratively working and building relationships with a wide range of people
  • Receives and reflects on feedback, while demonstrating an eagerness to grow
  • Flexibility and positivity to take on new responsibilities when needed
  • A strong record of professionalism

Benefits

  • Annual salary of $45,000
  • Competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years
  • Up to 10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid Thanksgiving week break, winter break, spring break, and summer break
  • Pre-tax deductions for transportation costs for employees who use public transit through WMATA
