About the Role

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Talent Management department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and developing policies and procedures to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Policy and Procedure Development

Develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including Centers for Medicaid & Medicare (CMS), Health & Human Services (HHSC), Texas Administrative Code (TAC), and The Joint Commission (TJC) HR accreditation standards.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and standards, conducting audits, evaluations, and reviews to identify areas requiring clarification or emphasis.

Survey Readiness

Coordinate participation and preparation of stakeholders/subject matter experts for upcoming audits, monthly HR Tracers, HR chapter reviews or surveys, and perform or coordinate internal audits, gap analysis, and process mapping to improve survey readiness.

Corrective Action Planning

Assist in creating corrective action plans to address deficiencies found during audits, HR Tracers, HR regulatory and accreditation standards reviews or surveys.

Compliance Review

Perform bi-annual formal compliance reviews of HR regulatory and accreditation standards to assess overall survey readiness using the TJC Tracer AMP website.

Advisory Role

Act in an advisory capacity to TM Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Shared Services, Occupational Health, Learning and Development, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance of HR regulatory and accreditation standards.

Process Improvement

Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations to supervisors, implementing, and monitoring results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and PHHS.

Requirements
  1. Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

Five (5) years of experience in the regulatory or compliance field, and five (5) years of experience in policy and procedure development.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and ability to design, implement, and evaluate standard operating procedures to increase operational efficiency; understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy; and ability to develop, lead, and manage multiple projects.
