Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bus Attendant to join our team at Regional Transit Service. As a Bus Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transportation of individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional support and supervision to passengers with disabilities during transportation.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the bus, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Securely fasten wheelchairs, seat belts, and other restraints to prevent injuries.
  • Monitor passengers for any medical or behavioral issues and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Administer first aid or CPR if necessary and trained to do so.
  • Implement and follow emergency procedures in case of an accident or incident.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
  • Collaborate with bus drivers and other staff to ensure a coordinated approach to passenger care.
  • Participate in training sessions related to disability support, safety procedures, and emergency response.
  • Adhere to all OPWDD policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism.
What We Offer
  • A competitive hourly rate of $15.50.
  • A flexible work schedule with approximately 20-25 hours per week.
  • A split shift schedule, with hours between 6:30am-9:30am and 12:30pm-3:30pm.
