Bus Attendant

Regional Transit Service (RTS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bus Attendant to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities during transportation. As a key member of our team, you will ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment for all passengers, promoting independence and dignity.

• Provide constant supervision and support to individuals with disabilities during transport.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the bus, ensuring safety at all times.
• Securely fasten wheelchairs, seat belts, and other restraints to prevent injuries.
• Monitor passengers for any medical or behavioral issues and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Administer first aid or CPR if necessary and trained to do so.
• Implement and follow emergency procedures in case of an accident or incident.
• Communicate effectively with passengers, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
• Collaborate with bus drivers and other staff to ensure a coordinated approach to passenger care.
• Participate in training sessions related to disability support, safety procedures, and emergency response.
• Adhere to all OPWDD policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism.

• Competitive hourly rate of $15.50.
• A split shift schedule, Monday to Friday, with approximately 20-25 hours per week.
