Position Overview
In this role, employees will be tasked with interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating various assignments. This includes exploring relevant subject areas, defining project scopes, selecting investigation areas, and developing and implementing innovative concepts. Key technologies of interest encompass solar photovoltaic systems, energy storage solutions, transmission and distribution networks, electric vehicles, and utility-scale wind energy.
Key Responsibilities
As a subject matter expert (SME) in assigned areas of innovation, you will:
- Oversee small to medium-sized projects without direct reports.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and provide data-driven insights.
- Stay informed about industry trends and company developments in your technical areas.
- Research, develop, and implement machine learning algorithms and tools to enhance the performance and design of renewable energy systems.
- Collaborate with national and international industry experts.
- Engage with the research community and technology developers to inform technology development goals.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve problems and identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Expertise in two or more of the following domains is essential:
- Design of solar photovoltaic systems.
- Design of battery storage systems.
- Geospatial data analysis and forecasting.
- Application of AI in renewable energy.
- Demonstrated analytical skills in two or more of the following:
- Model creation, statistical analysis, and system performance optimization.
- Designing and developing machine learning and deep learning systems.
- Assessment of solar resources.
- Optimal sizing of solar and storage systems.
- Exhibit a high level of technical expertise and take responsibility for specialized technical objectives.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field from an ABET accredited program with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (preferred) with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
