Powder Coat Processor Job Description

At Allegion, we're committed to creating peace of mind by pioneering safety and security. As a Powder Coat Processor, you'll play a crucial role in preparing product surfaces for final coating and painting, ensuring high-quality metal door and frame systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain the 5-stage pre-finishing system, ensuring proper operation and record-keeping.
  • Prepare project pre-finishing and finishing documentation, maintaining accurate records.
  • Identify surface characteristics and ensure proper preparation for coating application.
  • Apply coatings according to manufacturer Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and ensure proper cure time and temperature.
  • Perform quality certification testing and record results on corresponding load-bar routing traveler.
  • Prepare parts for rework to correct coating defects.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of cure ovens.
  • Set rigging and scaffolding, operate lifts and small cranes as needed.
  • Operate a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including applicators, sandblasting, and pressure washing equipment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated by the assignment.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
  • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand and comply with all appropriate safety and work safety regulations.
  • Continuously maintain a clean work area, including cleanup and disposal of trash, production scrap, and material drop-off.
Requirements:
  • Entry-level position; prior manufacturing, powder coating, or pre-finishing experience preferred but not required.
  • Provide high-quality internal customer service.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify differences in color.
  • Ability to stay organized and communicate efficiently to complete assigned tasks in a limited timeframe.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid environment.
  • Remains alert in a high-risk environment.
  • Maintains schedule and tasks despite interruptions.
  • Willing to work in a team environment.
  • Sound judgment required when working with and around production cells and determining when and how orders will be completed.
Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an environment where heavy work is required and where moderate to loud noise occurs. Overhead work may be required. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, twist, bend, lift, and move heavy objects (up to 70 pounds) and occasionally lift and move very heavy objects (up to 100 pounds). Production aids such as raised work platforms, lifts, overhead cranes, and forklifts can be used for these tasks. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. The Employee may be occasionally exposed to humid conditions (non-weather) and may be working near moving mechanical parts. Perform other similar actions during the course of the work day. Personal protective equipment will be required and provided. In addition, the individual in this job will be working under time pressure and must be able to perform under stress. They must be able to work rapidly for long periods and to communicate and interact with others. They also must be able to perform multiple concurrent tasks, and comprehend the material they read. The employee must be able to write, and problem solve. 40+ hours per week will typically be necessary to accomplish performance objectives and to provide satisfactory job presence and/or responsiveness.

Full-time, hourly non-exempt.

Compensation:

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experiences.

  • The expected Base Hourly Range: $27.66. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
