Job Summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist, PRN to join our team of medical professionals. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing MRI procedures and related techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
  • Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort.
  • Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Perform venipuncture, start and maintain venous access, and prepare and administer contrast media.
  • Verify consent/screening form and use appropriate scripting, barriers, and identifiers.
  • Assist physicians with interventional procedures and practice aseptic technique and observe universal precautions.
  • Evaluate images and data for technical quality and manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Use radiology information systems (including PACS), complete all required records and reports, archive, and submit images for physician review and interpretation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • Experience as an MRI Technologist preferred, but not required.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • ARRT MRI registration required (or must be obtained within two years of hire).
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to take call as needed.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
